Literature Text

Toxicodendron
Away from thee I run

For, upon thy very touch
a rash beheld, 'tis spread too much

O'! Urushiol
How thee dost cause turmoil
Ye make us itch and cry in pain
Scratching thine tingle for relief, 'tis vain

Thy leaf
Whence cometh grief

Ye climb, Ye creep
Ye make us weep
Thou cometh as trees
and with the breeze

Nary mercy cometh from thee
Only misery! Atrocity! 'Tis all that canst be

I beseech of thee to go away
Alas! Thou shalt hither stay...
Yep, I'm finally submitting something to the literature category. 'Bout time! :la:

This is something I wrote last year, which was partly inspired by this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3ZuPR…

... It was also partly inspired by that time I sat in poison ivy while making this short film: www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5f1Vn…
I was quite miserable after that incident. But I got better.

And here's a video in which I give a dramatic performance of the Ode to Toxicodendron: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kX6U_e…

Finally, if you haven't guesses already, this is an ode to Toxicodendron.
Toxicodendron being the genus of plants in the sumac family, containing such plants as poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, etc.
Delightful subject, ain't it?

Thank you for viewing! :thanks:
